Derwent Reservoir

Consett, County Durham

Derwent Reservoir is a peaceful location right on the border of County Durham and Northumberland, which is owned by Northumbrian Water. The reservoir attracts visitors for a wide range of activities, including fishing, cycling, and sailing. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes around the reservoir and four-legged friends are also welcome; dogs should be kept on their leads, however, there is a dedicated 12-acre dog park nearby where they can run free! Pow Hill Country Park is also a great location on the perimeter of the reservoir, which is great for a wander.

If you are a keen angler, then you are able to book fishing permits and boats online here. And, if you’re new to fishing and want to give it a go, then you can also arrange a ‘learn to fish’ lesson. Derwent Reservoir is a great location for a number of activities, but equally great if you just want to pack a picnic and enjoy the scenery; perfect location for couples, families and solo travellers. Campsites are also located nearby.

Nearby attractions: Corbridge Roman Town and Kielder Water
